The Pulmonary Research Group (PRG) at Akershus University Hospital was established in 2019 to stimulate, coordinate and conduct research related to pulmonary medicine at the hospital, in close cooperation with University of Oslo.Â
The PRG will focus the research on selected areas, prepare new proposals and integrate research in clinical practice.
The hospital has a large catchment area, representing about 10% of the Norwegian population. Hence, the PRG has access to large patient populations for research in prevalent diseases and will also represent an interesting partner in research on less common conditions.
The group members have broad experience and extensive cooperation with researchers in cardiology, sleep medicine, occupational health, psychiatry, health services research, health economics, health outcomes and neurology.
The group aims to conduct research activities within three major fields of pulmonology, such as obstructive lung diseases, interstitial lung diseases and lung cancer, and will partner with collaborators for projects in other areas and multicenter studies.
